Reset the Energy of Your Home: Simple Ways to Clear, Cleanse & Rebalance Your Space

Rosie moved into her new home this week! It was all very exciting—but when she got the keys, the energy in the house felt heavy.


Just like physical dirt, buildings can hold the energy of the people who have lived in and visited them. When we visit public spaces, hotel rooms, or holiday cottages, they can all carry energetic traces of those who’ve been there before us.


Fortunately, there are lots of ways to cleanse and clear spaces of non-serving, old, and stagnant energy.


Whether you’re heading to an Airbnb or feel that your office or home could do with an energetic spring clean, here are some simple ways to refresh your space:


Smudge

Use sage or palo santo to clear away non-serving or old energy. Light your smudging tool, gently blow it out, and allow the smoke to move through the space. Make sure to guide the smoke into corners of the room and underneath furniture.


Sound

Sound vibrations can help shift heavy or stuck energy. You can ring a bell in the corners of rooms, use singing bowls or aura chimes, play calming or frequency-based music, or simply clap your hands around the space.


Light & Candles

Light is symbolic of clarity and renewal. Lighting a candle with intention can help shift the atmosphere. Natural sunlight is just as powerful—open the curtains and let the light pour in.


Use Crystals

Sweep the room with a selenite wand to cleanse the energy and raise the vibration of the space.


Place smoky quartz or obsidian in the corners of a room to help absorb any non-serving energy.


Different spaces can benefit from different crystals:


  • Bedroom: amethyst or rose quartz for calm and rest

  • Living room: clear quartz for harmony

  • Workspace: citrine for focus and motivation

  • Entryway: black tourmaline for protection


Bring in Nature

Plants, flowers, and natural elements can refresh a space both energetically and visually. They symbolise growth and life, helping to create a more vibrant, uplifting environment.


Set Clear Intentions

Your mindset plays a big role. Walk through your space and consciously set an intention. You might say (out loud or silently):

“This space is calm, safe, and filled with positive energy.”


Intention helps anchor the physical actions you take.


Reiki Your Space

Connect to Reiki and hold your hands out in front of you. Set the intention:

“I now cleanse and clear this space of all non-serving energy for my highest good and the highest good of all. Thank you.”


Allow Reiki to flow, moving your hands around the space wherever you feel drawn. You can also visualise or draw a large power symbol filling the room to cleanse and clear the energy.


After cleansing your space, take a moment to pause. Express gratitude for your home and the energy within it—this helps to ground and anchor the shift you’ve created.


Refreshing the energy of your environment can help you feel lighter, brighter, and more connected. It supports clarity, calm, and flow in your day—and might even help you drift into a deeper, more restful sleep.
